Lagos: Three Projects On Kano Airport Would Be Commissioned On May 23, 2011
Cheap flights To Lagos News: The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria ( FAAN ) has concluded all preparations for the commissioning of the domestic terminal, power up-grade project as well as foundation laying for a new international terminal at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano ( MAKIA ).
Yesterday, The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria ( FAAN ), Mr. Richard Aisuebeogun, said that the commissioning of the three projects, which are part of the Federal Government’s Airport Reform Programme, would be commissioned on Monday, May 23, 2011 by Vice President Namadi Sambo. The new terminal is constructed to address all operational inadequacies in the old domestic terminal of ( MAKIA ), which was reconstructed and commissioned in 1982. The domestic flight operations were moved from the present location of the newly constructed terminal to the cargo area about 10 years ago to facilitate the construction of the new building. The new domestic terminal has a departure lounge that can accommodate about 500 passengers as well as a VIP lounge with a capacity of 96 passengers. The terminal also has two banking halls, shops, offices and other basic facilities found in modern terminals. Mr. Aisuebeogun believed the modern services as well as facilities in the new terminal would raise the class of service delivery at the airport. The improved power project, which was finished early January 2011, is intended to enhance the safety as well as security of flight operation through the provision of standard and reliable power supply of facilities at the airport.
